Dear Coach,
Over the past year, one of the Coaching Association of Canada’s (CAC) main objectives has been to simplify the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Policies as much as possible. The CAC has approved a revision of the Policy on Minimum Age (U16). The spirit of the policy has not changed, but the Locker now reflects it.
The policy stipulates that:
No individuals under the age of 14 will have qualifications tracked in the Locker. Accounts of individuals whose age is below 14 as of August 5, 2015 will be removed from the Locker.
All coaches in the Locker will be required to be 16 years or older in order to complete a pathway to certification and achieve the “Certified” status. Coaches under 16 completing these pathways will not receive the “Certified” status until their 16th birthday. The “In Training” and “Trained” statuses will continue to be achievable for 14 and 15 year old coaches. U16 coaches eligible for the “Certified” status are automatically given “Certified” status on their 16th birthday.
14 and 15 years old coaches will be clearly designated as “Under 16” in their profile in the
Locker as well as all version of their transcript.
All coaches in the Locker whose age cannot be determined due to the absence of a date of birth in their profile will be designated as “Age Unknown” and will no longer be shown as completing any pathway or achieving any status on their transcript. Once their date of birth is provided they will immediately regain the statuses for which they are eligible and the “Age Unknown” designation will be removed.
The Policy on Minimum Age will be implemented in the Locker as of ***August 5, 2015***. You are encouraged to review this policy on coach.ca.
