Long Term Equestrian Development - Eventing

The NBEA is pleased to present the Long Term Athlete Development Program for Eventing. The LTED is a rider training program aimed at increasing participation in Equestrian Canada Bronze, Silver, and Gold competitions, using the principles of Training to Train, Training to Compete, and Training to Win.

For the 2017 season, the LTED program will bring together two competitive teams - Tier One and Tier Two. 

Tier One Criteria:

  • Must attend 3 EC sanctioned shows as decided by the program and one must be Brae Fearann HT. 
  • Horse and rider have solid w/t/c flat work and have some experience jumping.
  • Riders must complete Rider Level 4 by the final training camp in August, 2017. Rider Level testing may be arranged for you during the LTED training camps .However, additional learning must be done with your coach apart from the training camps to ensure you have the required knowledge. 
  • Riders must complete a minimum of 8 lessons (2 per month May-August) with an EC certified coach and at least 3 of these lessons must be on a xc course. It is the responsibility of the rider to organize and pay for these lessons.
  • Riders must attend 3 LTED training camps.
  • Rider must compete in the designated horse shows identified for the LTED program. 
  • Must arrange their own transportation to lessons and competitions, unless part of the LTED travel out of province. 
  • Rider & horse must have correct riding attire for all 3 phases.
  • Memberships and horse inoculations as defined in LTED application form.

Tier Two Criteria:

  • Must attend 5 sanctioned shows as decided by the program and one must be Brae Fearann HT and one other must be another HT. 
  • Must already have eventing competition experience. 
  • Must already have Rider Level 5 (PT) or Rider Level 6 (T). If the rider does not have the required rider level, they may, on their own accord, complete the required rider level by August 1st, 2017 however they will not be eligible for LTED funding reimbursements until AFTER their rider level is attained. 
  • Riders must complete a minimum of 8 lessons (2 per month May-August) with an EC certified coach and at least 4 of these lessons must be on a xc course. It is the responsibility of the rider to organize and pay for these lessons.
  • Riders must attend 3 LTED training camps.
  • Rider must compete in the designated horse shows identified for the LTED program.
  • Must arrange their own transportation to lessons and competitions, unless part of the LTED travel out of province. 
  • Rider & horse must have correct riding attire for all 3 phases.
